What is a crystal

What is a gemstone

A gemstone is a mineral or sometimes an organic material that has been cut and polished for jewellery or decoration. Gemstones are chosen for beauty, durability and rarity. Many gemstones begin as crystals, though not all crystals become gemstones. Amethyst in a ring is a gemstone. Amber is a gemstone but not a crystal.
